Man critical after suspected random glassing on Gold Coast street
A man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after a woman allegedly armed with a broken bottle struck him in the neck on a Gold Coast street overnight.
Police believe the victim and alleged attacker did not know each other prior to the alleged glassing.
It will be alleged the 43-year-old man was walking along Scarborough Street in Southport about 6.45pm on Tuesday when he was attacked.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the victim was treated for a serious neck wound and rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police searched the area in the immediate aftermath of the attack and found a 24-year-old local woman in a nearby shop on Scarborough Street.
She was arrested and later charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and was due to face Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
