Man charged with murder after Boxing Day hit-and-run

A man has been charged with murder after a fatal hit-and-run on the Gold Coast on Boxing Day.
A 50-year-old man died after he was hit by a car after he had rushed to help his neighbours who had been involved in a home invasion on Rio Vista Boulevard at Broadbeach Waters about 1.30am.

Police will allege two men had arrived at the residence armed with implements and created a disturbance before they fled in a newer-style black sedan.
The good Samaritan who had come to help his neighbours was struck by the vehicle and died at the scene.
On Tuesday, police charged a 17-year-old Varsity Lakes man with with one count of murder, one count of attempted burglary and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He was due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Investigations were continuing.
