Lee ready to turn Qld Green

New Queensland Greens MP Ronan Lee said his party was ready for an early state election as he took to Brisbane streets today promoting the Greens' stand on solar energy.

The MP for Indooroopilly, in Brisbane's western suburbs, joined the Greens upon quitting the Labor government in October in a decision that shocked Premier Anna Bligh.

The government had failed to take decisive action on the environment and implemented "stupid policies", including plans to build the controversial Traveston Crossing Dam in the Mary River catchment near Gympie, he said.

"This is the beginning of the Greens' biggest ever Queensland election campaign and we will be taking our positive message to Queensland residents at information stalls throughout the state over the next two weeks," Mr Lee said.

"Only the Greens will deliver better public transport, stronger support for renewable energy and stop the Traveston Dam."

Mr Lee said the Greens would be heavily promoting solar energy throughout their election campaign.

"We are election-ready, and central to our election message is stronger support for solar and renewable energy, better public transport and real action on climate change," he said.
