Gold Coast teen thrown to footpath in hit-and-run
A Gold Coast teenager was hit by a car and thrown onto the footpath in a hit-and-run on Sunday.
The 14-year-old boy was hit on Nerang-Broadbeach Road in Nerang about 6pm and "thrown onto the median strip", according to police.
Specialist critical care paramedics responded and treated the teenager at the scene.
The vehicle did not stop, leaving the teenager injured on the side of the road.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with soft tissue injuries.
Police are investigating whether the boy was part of a group of youths who ran off when officers tried to speak with them in Nerang just before the hit-and-run.
Investigators have appealed for anyone travelling on Nerang-Broadbeach Road at 5.45pm-6pm or anyone who may have dashcam footage to contact Policelink on 13 14 44 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
