Eleven police officers in isolation after 'contact' with quarantine case
By Matt Dennien
Queensland police have ordered almost a dozen officers in isolation after an incident with a COVID-positive man in Brisbane hotel quarantine.
Eleven officers came into contact with the 41-year-old man after he tested positive during his quarantine at a South Brisbane hotel on Sunday, a police spokesperson said.
The man, a returned overseas traveller, had attempted to leave his room at the Rydges Hotel after suffering a medical incident, Nine reported.
The police spokesperson said all officers had been wearing personal protective equipment in accordance with infection control measures, but would not provide any further detail about the nature of the incident.
"The Queensland Police Service is conducting welfare checks on the members each day and has been able to make arrangements to ensure adequate staffing is in place while they are isolating," they said.
