CityCat hit by houseboat sinks in Brisbane River

A CityCat that was hit by a houseboat during Brisbane’s flood has sunk in the Brisbane River.

Councillor Ryan Murphy said the CityCat Beenung-Urrung sunk in about eight metres of water off Addison Quays in Bulimba.

On Monday night CityCat Beenung-Urrung sunk in about 8m of water off Addison Quays in Bulimba in the Brisbane River. The CityCat was struck by a houseboat and loosed from mooring, before continuing to take on water.

“On Monday she was struck by a houseboat and loosed from her mooring,” he said.

“She continued to take on water. A very sad day for Transport for Brisbane and the team at River City Ferries.”

Several watercraft have been lost during Brisbane’s flood, while authorities are monitoring a pontoon with a crane on it in the Brisbane River.
