Traffic chaos after crash in Sydney Harbour Tunnel

By Carrie Fellner

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel has reopened to drivers heading southbound after an earlier crash, but drivers heading into the city centre are being warned to expect heavy congestion.

Two cars collided in the southbound lanes of the tunnel at about 11.50am, according to Live Traffic NSW. There was gridlock as the tunnel was closed and drivers were funnelled onto the Harbour Bridge.

While the crash site has now been cleared and the tunnel has reopened, southbound traffic has slowed to a crawl between the Harbour Bridge and Artarmon.

Drivers are being warned to allow extra travel time and expect significant delays.
