Three schoolboys are in hospital after they were hit by a car on Sydney’s lower north shore on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near Falcon Street in Crows Nest at about 3.30pm following reports of a crash.
All three boys sustained leg and head injuries, police said.
NSW Ambulance said two of the boys – both 12 – were taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and a 13-year-old to Sydney’s Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
NSW Police said a man was arrested in Lane Cove about 4pm. He was later charged with seven offences. He was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Friday.
A woman, named Linda, told 2GB radio she saw the incident and said the driver did not stop after hitting the boys.
“They just went through so fast, the noise of the boys hitting the car was horrifying,” she said.
“A couple of people got his rego number.”
The boys had just left school and were crossing at a green pedestrian light, the witness said.
Police said in a statement, “As inquiries continue, anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage in relation to this incident is urged to contact Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
All southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway were closed shortly after the incident. All lanes were reopened just after 6.15pm.
