Mr Walsh was the father of three daughters and is believed to have moved to Australia from Enniscorthy, Wexford in 2012.

A Wexford County councillor, John O'Rourke, told the 'Irish Independent' that the town has been numbed by the tragedy.

"I've known him since he was a child. I managed an under-12 team at Ajax Athletic football club and he was a handy young player. In his early 20s, he played for Enniscorthy United," he said.

"David grew up in Moran Park in the town, the son of highly respected builder John Walsh. He was one of six children. David leaves behind three daughters."
