Travis Kelce joins Taylor Swift on stage as fans go wild in London
By Nell Geraets
Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce made his Eras Tour debut on Sunday, joining the pop star on stage during her third and final show in this leg of the tour at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has attended a number of Swift’s shows, including her first Sydney concert in February, but this marked his first time on stage as part of the official production.
Dressed in a morning suit and top hat, Kelce scooped Swift into his arms during the I Can Do It With a Broken Heart transition. This was followed by a jazzy dance routine alongside two of her backup dancers.
Kelce’s surprise appearance sent fans wild. They quickly posted footage on social media, generally praising Kelce for supporting his partner and giving it his all on stage (particularly where his dance moves were concerned).
Though their relationship was already extremely public, some fans labelled his appearance as their official “hard launch”. Others speculated whether this could indicate a potential proposal on stage in the future.
Celebrity attendances have become a signature of Swift’s Eras Tour, with stars like Katy Perry, Rebel Wilson and Rita Ora attending an Australian show. Her London leg has been no exception. Paul McCartney was filmed dancing to But Daddy I Love Him surrounded by Swifties on the arena floor – a refreshing change given most of the tour’s celebrity sightings are in the VIP areas.
Top Gun star Tom Cruise was spotted at the second London concert, gleefully trading friendship bracelets with fans and grooving to Shake It Off.
Other A-list stars, including Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Christopher McQuarrie, Greta Gerwig and Hugh Grant, also attended the second night. Grant was expressing his admiration for Kelce well before his surprise appearance, writing on X (formerly Twitter) that he is an “excellent, if gigantic, boyfriend (#tequilashots)”.
“Thanks so much from one ageing London boy, wife and thrilled 8-year-old #halfgirlhalfbracelet,” he wrote.
Swift even took a royal selfie with Prince William and two of his children, George and Charlotte, after her first London show. The royal trio shimmied the night away while celebrating the prince’s 42nd birthday at Wembley.
London fans were also treated to an appearance by singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, who has previously opened for Swift and is due to return to the tour this year. The pair sang Us, a song they wrote together for Abrams’ most recent album, during an acoustic segment of the third show.
Swift will return to Wembley in August for five more shows to end the European leg of the Eras Tour.
