Elderly man dies from injuries after being hit by cyclist on Brisbane bikeway

An elderly man has died in hospital after he was struck by a cyclist while walking along Brisbane’s Bicentennial Bikeway earlier this week.
Police said a cyclist was riding along the bikeway near Queens Wharf Road about 8.45am on Monday before the crash with the 72-year-old St Lucia man.

The pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition with critical head injuries.
Police said the man had since died from his injuries.
The cyclist, a 57-year-old Moorooka man, was treated for minor injuries.
The crash was initially reported to emergency services as involving two pedestrians.
Police were continuing to investigate the crash and appealed for anyone who might have witnessed the incident to come forward.
