PM and premier lead guest list at Sandilands’ wedding
On a drizzling afternoon in Sydney, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Premier Chris Minns, King Cross identity John Ibrahim and a convicted drug smuggler Simon Main were among the guests at the hotly anticipated wedding of radio broadcaster Kyle Sandilands.
The nuptials between Sandilands, 51, and his former assistant Tegan Kynaston, 35, were held at Swifts mansion in Darling Point and livestreamed on Instagram by the radio host’s Kiis FM. It was thus that the fans learned the ceremony would be delayed by 10 minutes because Sandilands’ radio co-host, Jackie “O” Henderson had been held up in traffic. (She arrived with her daughter Kitty in complementary floral gowns.)
Albanese, who was snapped by Sandilands’ manager with the bridegroom in a picture shared on Twitter, was forced to deny in the morning that he would be “DJing” at the wedding, and both politicians arrived covertly, though the army of waiting photographers snapped Minns leaving soon after the vows.
The guest list on Saturday included A, B, C and D list celebrities. There was Ibrahim’s girlfriend, the model Sarah Budge, singer/songwriter Samantha Jade, Nine personality Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine, singer Guy Sebastian and his wife Jules.
Former boxer Jeff Fenech came wearing a crucifix around his neck, with wife Suzee carrying an umbrella. Footballer Beau Ryan came in a taupe suit and paparazzo and former Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons wore a blue velvet jacket.
Albanese told reporters on Saturday morning that he was looking forward to the wedding, which would be an expression of love between two people. “That’s a good thing,” he said. “I enjoy weddings and I will be going to the wedding.”
Sandilands told his listeners earlier this week that he planned to seat Albanese next to his mother.
