A man and woman have been found dead in a tent at a southern Queensland music festival.

Officers later confirmed it was a case of two sudden deaths.

The deceased were identified as a 24-year-old Maleny man and a 22-year-old Nambour woman.

A police spokeswoman said officers were investigating whether an overdose was a factor. She said there was "nothing suspicious" in relation to the deaths.

The Rabbits Eat Lettuce music festival, now in its 11th year, started at midday on Thursday and wrapped up about 2.30am on Monday.

In a statement, festival management said it was "truly heartbreaking to lose some beautiful souls".

"All of the staff and community at Rabbits Eat Lettuce would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of those who were found deceased," it read.

"Our thoughts and concerns are predominantly for their wellbeing and privacy during this time.

"It is truly heartbreaking to lose some beautiful souls that we consider part of our extended family.

"Rabbits Eat Lettuce place the wellbeing and safety of our patrons as the number one priority and we have highly trained first aid, professional paramedics working 24 hours during the festival and an on-call doctor onsite.

"In addition, Queensland police and Queensland ambulance are on duty in a user-pay capacity during the festival.

"We work together with authorities to ensure that the environment we provide is as safe as possible.

"The relevant bodies will be investigating to determine exactly what happened.

"It is appropriate that we give them the chance to do their work and respect the deceased family’s right to privacy and avoid any speculation."

According to the website, the Rabbits Eat Lettuce music festival is a place of "freedom, love and dance music" for people "who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life" and "be human again".

Warwick detectives were at the scene and investigating the circumstances of the deaths.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
