Take a peek inside this modern inner-Melbourne home
By Heather Nette King
The home
A three-bedroom, three-level townhouse with Melbourne city skyline views designed by Robert Mills Architecture in 2005.
Who lives here
Tanya Hansen with her dog, Rosie, and “many regular visits from her children
and friends”.
What I did
“Five years ago, what started as a slight interior facelift ended up as a complete renovation,” says Hansen. “My good friend Dee Russell helped redesign the kitchen and lounge area, then I engaged the extraordinary talents of designer and stylist Simone Haag and her designer Cindy Phillips to elevate the spaces.”
My favourite room
“I am torn between the lounge area and main bedroom as they both provide tranquillity through textures and tonal layers,” says Hansen.
The ’hood
“I love that I’m so close to beautiful parks and gardens and within walking distance to the city, yet it still feels quietly secluded,” she says.
Future plans
“I’ll choose some more art and hopefully add a few treasured pieces from future travels.”
Best advice
“Don’t be afraid to loosen your comfort zone a little, and be patient finding pieces that bring joy.”
