Singer Amy Shark follows in the style steps of Johnny Cash
Each fortnight, Stephanie Darling gets inside the head of an industry expert or media personality. Singer, songwriter and Celebrity Apprentice star Amy Shark has many strings to her bow: her album Love Monster won four ARIAs and she co-wrote the platinum single Love Songs Ain’t for Us with Ed Sheeran. Her latest album is Cry Forever.
What I’m loving right now I am currently obsessed with the 24K Esmi Skin Gold Nourishing Face Oil (sephora.com.au, esmi.com.au, $65).
Beauty icon Kendall Jenner. She’s the hottest and she also reps Adidas hard. I feel she can do it all: from off-duty street style to daring red carpet looks. She has effortless, chic energy.
The rule I live by Pain is beauty, beauty is pain.
Top beauty tip Let your hair dry naturally as often as possible.
Favourite colour Black, just like Johnny Cash. It goes with everything and makes me feel powerful. So many of my wardrobe staples are black – boots, jeans and little black dresses.
Must-have beauty product Kevin Murphy Killer Curls for frizz-free hair (adorebeauty.com.au, $53).
Favourite exercise routine My arms get a nice workout when I turn into the McDonald’s drive-through; it’s really big. And being on tour always keeps me active with lots of dancing and running around on stage.
I never the leave the house Without big hair, thick brows and a good attitude.
Trend: Masking It
I love the ease of make-up-removing face wipes, especially when they dissolve in water after use, so I was delighted to find Conserving Beauty’s option. Also on the hot list are Heartwood sheet masks for calming skin and Mecca for a 15-minute pick-me-up.

If you haven’t read Nora Ephron’s book I Feel Bad About My Neck (dymocks.com.au, $23) you’re in for a treat. It is an arch, hilarious and insightful take on ageing disgracefully.
Ask Steph
As a man, how often should I trim my nails?
Set aside five minutes a week to cut your toenails and fingernails. Use clippers (when your nails are dry and hard) or scissors (for precision when nails are soft after a shower); or indulge in a weekly manicure and pedicure.
