TV sweetheart and former nominee snubbed from Logies

By Lucy Manly

The stars of the Australian entertainment industry will step out for television’s night of nights, the TV WEEK Logies, after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus. However, not all the celebrities you might expect to see there have managed to score an invitation, including reality TV sweetheart turned soap star Sam Frost. Despite a nomination for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent in 2018 for her portrayal of Jasmine Delaney on Home and Away, Frost has not made the cut to attend for the 62nd ceremony.

A Channel 7 spokesperson confirmed to Emerald City that Frost would not be there. “Due to limited ticketing, invitations were extended to Home and Away cast currently filming with the production. Sam finished filming with Home and Away in December 2021. I believe only Gold Logie winners automatically receive a ticket each year.”

TV soap royalty Harley Bonner, who starred on Neighbours before a short stint on Home and Away, also did not make the cut for the awards ceremony. Coincidentally, the pair exited the show within months of each other, after Seven West Media introduced a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for cast and crew. An email was sent out last October by Director of Production Andrew Backwell that said the network would “only engage fully vaccinated presenters, cast, and crew”. Frost has not disclosed her vaccination status to her social media followers and declined to comment on it when interviewed by News Corp in March. Previously, however, she had stated she planned to get vaccinated after a medical procedure in January. Emerald City has been told by a Logies spokesperson the event is not enforcing vaccinations from guests who are attending. “The state and venue guidelines do not require [vaccination status from guests],” a spokesperson confirmed.

Despite starring in one TV’s most successful reality shows, only a select group of stars from this year’s season of Married at First Sight will attend.

Olivia Fraser, Jackson Lonie, Tamara Djordjevic, Samantha Moitzi and Mitch Eynaud, Daniel Holmes and Carolina Santos have been left off the guest list and won’t be able to extend their 15 minutes of fame on the red carpet. Cast favourites Domenica Calarco, Ella Ding, Brent Vitiello, Al Perkins, Jack Millar, Selina Chhaur and Dion Giannarelli all scored invites.

Queensland has long been a playground for the rich, now Hollywood megastars are calling Port Douglas home. The rumour mill has gone into overdrive on Macrossan Street, where locals and holidaymakers are on the lookout for star couples for the next few months as filming gets underway for Wizards! Last week, former Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson was spotted exploring Cairns, where The King of Staten Island star posed with fans at TimeZone and was later seen walking through a casino that same night.

Emerald City can reveal the sober comic, who has been candid about his addiction issues, is staying at an exclusive and tranquil eco-retreat in the rainforest outside of Port Douglas. Despite rumoured sightings of Pete and girlfriend Kim Kardashian around Cairns, a rep for Davidson shut down speculation, saying Pete was in Australia without Kim.

The Queensland tourist hot spot has recently become a hub of A-list activity due to the Wizards! stars, including Franz Rogowski, Orlando Bloom and Naomi Scott.

Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B is backing the film and production is expected to inject an estimated $14.7 million into the Queensland economy. Bloom, wife Katy Perry, their toddler Daisy Dove and Flynn – Bloom’s 11-year-old son with Miranda Kerr – quietly slipped into Sydney before boarding a private jet to Cairns.

The blended family is now lapping up luxury aboard a super yacht off Port Douglas. The award-winning vessel boasts four levels, various lounge and dining areas, an array of super-yacht toys a rooftop jacuzzi. Despite being moored off the coast, the couple has been spied periodically around the Sheraton Mirage pushing a stroller.

Aussies abroad

It seems almost everyone in the Harbour City has their Louis [Vuitton] luggage packed for a summer escape to somewhere far warmer than Sydney. Racing royalty Kate Waterhouse and betting magnate Tom Waterhouse and his wife Hoda stepped out in Britain last week to attend the prestigious Royal Ascot.

The glamorous racing presenter was joined by “glam squad” members make-up artist Michael Browne and photographer Ashleigh Larden, however stylist Jess Pecoraro remained in Sydney. The group is due to join other Sydney pals for Nadia Fairfax-Wayne and husband Michael Wayne‘s ‘mate moon’ in Bodrum, Turkey. Then Kate and husband Luke Ricketson will celebrate their wedding anniversary in Taomina, Italy, where they tied the knot 10 years ago.

A number of Aussies were trackside at Royal Ascot donning headwear and coat-tails, including former Sunrise anchor Samantha Armytage and her husband, equestrian businessman Richard Lavender. Twin models Jordan and Zac Stenmark, and property mogul Theo Onisforou’s son Angus Onisforou, were also trackside.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, former Harper’s BAZAAR staffer Laura Davis tied the knot with a wealthy New Yorker Lawrence Britvan.

Emerald City hears the glamorous event was held at the members only San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood.
