Called Daddy’s Little Toy, the book – which features children’s building blocks on the cover – sparked uproar when excerpts of pre-release copies were published online before Tesolin-Mastrosa was charged in March. The 33-year-old was arrested before being taken to Riverstone Police Station and later released on conditional bail.

According to a NSW Police statement, in March 2025, officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command received reports of a novel of fiction containing child abuse material. On March 22, detectives attended a home in Quakers Hill, in Sydney’s outer north-west, and arrested the author. At the home, police executed a search warrant – seizing several hard copies of the novel – to be forensically examined.

She was charged with one count each of disseminate child abuse material, produce child abuse material and possess child abuse material, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A suppression order on Tesolin-Mastrosa’s identity was lifted by Magistrate Rami Attia in Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday. The case returns to court on June 5.
