Wellington | New Zealand’s centre-left government led by Jacinda Ardern has produced a much more fiscally prudent budget than Josh Frydenberg’s effort last Tuesday.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson, delivering his fourth so-called “wellbeing budget”, used the windfall from New Zealand’s better than expected economic performance since the first blush of COVID-19 last year to plough more money into healthcare, infrastructure and family benefits to drive down child poverty.
