Washington welcomes Kevin Rudd’s hardline views on Xi Jinping

Washington | A new book on China by Kevin Rudd, Australia’s ambassador to the US and a former prime minister, should help shore up his position in the American national security community ahead of next month’s presidential election, according to his immediate predecessor.

Arthur Sinodinos, who served in Washington until March 2023, said Dr Rudd’s depiction of the Chinese president in the book, On Xi Jinping, as an ambitious ideologue determined to consolidate China’s place in a new world order sits well with the Washington view.
