US beefs up Pacific allies’ defences to counter China
Halifax, Nova Scotia | Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the United States was learning the lessons of the Ukraine war by bolstering the defence capabilities of Pacific nations in the face of an “increasingly assertive” China.
At an international security forum that draws defence and security officials from Western democracies, Mr Austin compared China with Russia which was trying to “redraw borders by force” in its devastating war in Ukraine.
