New York | ABC News in America is set to pay $US15 million ($24 million) to settle a defamation lawsuit brought by Donald Trump, after it had called him a rapist.

The agreement was a significant concession by a major US news organisation and a rare victory for a media-bashing politician whose previous litigation efforts against news outlets have often ended in defeat.
