Washington | For two hours, eight Republican presidential hopefuls will on Thursday (AEST) take the stage in a debate designed to show Americans why they’re electable.

The televised war of words will cover the economy, culture wars and foreign policy, but perhaps the most divisive topic will be former president Donald Trump – the front-runner who isn’t even turning up.
