First US terrorism threat post Kabul raises home truths
The so-called yee-hawdist threatened to blow up two city blocks after parking his truck outside Washington’s Capitol building. Intelligence didn’t see that coming.
Matthew CranstonUnited States correspondentWashington | The first terrorism threat on US soil since the fall of Kabul, and less than a month from the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, has turned out to be from a North Carolina man demanding that President Joe Biden resign.
The chosen spot for this “yeehawdist” (slang for American militant) and his utility truck, which he claimed was loaded with ammonium nitrate, was outside Washington’s Capitol building – and about 200 metres from an apartment I decided to vacate a few weeks ago.
