Hurricane Helene kills 64 in US, leaves $37b damage bill

Perry, Florida | Hurricane Helene has left a trail of devastation across several US states, killing at least 64 people, knocking out power to millions and stranding hundreds without shelter.
As the clean-up began, authorities in North Carolina stressed the threat of additional flooding from heavy rain was not yet over, with dams pushed to the brink, and some residents forced to flee to higher ground.
