Beware importing America’s ugly divisions into Australia

The local reaction to the overturning of Roe v Wade might not matter. But it does demonstrate that the worst of American culture has the potential to destabilise our society.

If ever we were looking for an example of the impact of superficial media coverage sensationalising beyond rationality global events, then take the reaction to the US Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade.

There are two things to understand about this decision: first, it has absolutely no implications whatsoever for Australia. It is nothing to do with Australia. Our abortion laws remain in situ, unaffected.
