London | Russian President Vladimir Putin escalated a tense showdown with the West on Thursday (Friday AEDT), warning that an experimental and nuclear-capable hypersonic missile could be used to strike US-backed military facilities in Poland and other countries.
Mr Putin’s threat came hours after Russia tested the new intermediate-range missile against Ukraine in a move officials and analysts said was meant to instil fear in Kyiv and the West.
