London | Trade Minister Don Farrell’s first solo overseas foray will plunge him into a potentially fractious 164-country summit, which is shaping up as a test of whether the beleaguered World Trade Organisation can avoid sliding into irrelevance.

The global trade rule-setter and umpire is yet to recover from the shellacking it received from former US president Donald Trump, who torpedoed its appeals tribunal and questioned its legitimacy.
