The sad old Duke of York: What next for Andrew and the royals?

Prince Andrew is at his lowest point, and it could get worse: he could lose his home and face interrogation. “He could go to prison,” says one royal watcher.

Prince Andrew “is greedy, not very bright, and it’s all come home to roost”, says biographer Andrew Lownie. 

From the House of Windsor to open speculation he may wind up in the big house, Prince Andrew’s fall from grace has been long, slow and excruciating.

But while the man formerly known as the Duke of York has been effectively banished from public life, the unanswered question now for the royal family is whether they have done enough to avoid Andrew’s antics permanently sullying King Charles and the institute of the monarchy.
