One of our standout medal hopes, the world-beating womens rugby seven’s team, suffered an almost inexplicable form slump against a confident, plucky Canadian side. There were tears on the field after that semi-final – and then the heartbreak was compounded as the Aussies lost their bronze medal match to the USA, 14-12.
