London | Britain and France will lead a push for a Europe-led ceasefire plan in Ukraine, as they scramble for a peace deal that Donald Trump will accept – and that will prevent him from ending the war on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s terms.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emerged from a London crisis summit of mostly European leaders on Sunday (Monday AEDT) saying he and French President Emmanuel Macron would lead Europe’s work on the peace deal, and would forge a “coalition of the willing” of countries prepared to enforce it.
