Russia starts ‘sham trial’ of US journalist on spying charges

London | A Wall Street Journal reporter went on trial behind closed doors in a Russian city on Wednesday, 15 months after his arrest on espionage charges that he, his employer and the US government vehemently deny.
Evan Gershkovich, 32, appeared in a courtroom in a glass cage in the city of Yekaterinburg, with his head shaven clean and wearing a plaid shirt.
