Russell Brand has been charged with five counts of rape and assault stemming from incidents with four women between 1999 and 2005, British prosecutors announced on Friday (Saturday AEDT), nearly two years after the English actor and comedian was in news reports accused of multiple assaults.
After an investigation, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge Brand with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault, according to a news release.
