New AUKUS pact to keep nuclear subs deal on track
London | Australia and the United Kingdom will thrash out a formal treaty to govern the development of their jointly designed nuclear-powered submarine, the SSN-AUKUS, as they look to allay concerns about their ability to deliver the project.
Defence Minister Richard Marles and British Defence Secretary John Healey will announce the treaty negotiations after they meet jointly with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin for AUKUS ministerial talks in London late on Thursday (AEST).
