Aussie troops could play role in Ukraine ceasefire deal

London | Defence Minister Richard Marles would not rule out sending Australian troops to help guarantee Ukraine’s security, if incoming US president Donald Trump drives through a ceasefire deal between Kyiv and Moscow next year.

European leaders are already discussing the potential need for a peacekeeping force to protect Ukraine, if the ceasefire draws a line of control between Ukrainian territory and Russian-occupied regions. French President Emmanuel Macron has indicated up to 40,000 troops may be needed.
