London | Last time Donald Trump was president, the World Trade Organisation was a favourite bogeyman. The White House did everything it could to white-ant the global trade umpire’s rules and credibility.
So as trade ministers gather in Abu Dhabi on Monday for the WTO’s two-yearly set-piece summit, it’s little wonder there is a sense of what the body’s former comms chief, Keith Rockwell, calls “foreboding”.
