German populists turn heads with fake air tickets for illegal migrants

London | Germany’s insurgent right-wing populist party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), has fuelled publicity and controversy in equal measure – including a police investigation – with a mail-drop of fake plane tickets for “illegal immigrants”.

The publicity-grabbing AfD flyers are styled as boarding passes for one-way flights to the migrants’ “safe country of origin”, with a departure date of February 23 – polling day in Germany’s election.
