Brits regret Brexit, but can the country turn back?

Boris Johnson ‘got Brexit done’, but most Brits now seem to wish he hadn’t. Polls show more people see it as a failure, and would even vote to rejoin the EU.

London | Former UK prime minister Boris Johnson claimed in 2020 to have “got Brexit done”. But now it seems that a growing majority of Britons wishes he hadn’t.

In opinion poll after opinion poll, Brits – not just the ‘Remainers’, but also many ‘Leavers’ – express what the country has come to call “Bregret”: a sense either that voters made the wrong decision in the 2016 referendum, or that politicians have spent the past eight years screwing it up.
