London | The terrorist suspect being investigated for the fatal stabbing of Conservative MP David Amess had previously been referred to the British government’s counter-extremism program.
The 25-year-old, named on Saturday night (Sunday AEDT) as Ali Harbi Ali, who police believe may have been motivated by Islamist extremism, is understood to have been referred to the Prevent program several years ago – although he was not known to MI5, according to security sources.
