Boris Johnson hesitates over omicron Christmas lockdown
London | British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has baulked at introducing further social restrictions for England before Christmas, after a marathon cabinet debate that pitted libertarian Tory ministers against omicron hawks.
The surge in omicron-variant COVID-19 infections in London has started to feed through into rising hospitalisations, stoking the concern among Mr Johnson’s medical and scientific advisers that hospitals could face an unsustainable wave of admissions.
