Tokyo | Sometimes living in Japan is like being a guest in the home of a hospitable, but fastidious, host.

I got politely told off at the gym this week for wearing my shoes into the changing rooms. This is a common mistake foreign visitors make to Japan where there is a whole etiquette around where to wear shoes and slippers. You would think I’d know better after two months.
