Philippines military deal boosts US efforts to counter China

Manila | Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has restored a key military deal with the US, boosting President Joe Biden’s efforts to counter China and strengthen ties with allies in the Asia-Pacific.
Mr Duterte retracted last year’s termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement, Philippine Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said at a joint briefing with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin on Friday.
