Japan seeks stronger Australia security ties to counter China

Tokyo | Japan will look to deepen security ties with Australia aimed at preventing conflict in the Indo-Pacific during meetings in Hiroshima and Sydney between prime ministers Anthony Albanese and Fumio Kishida.

A top aide to Mr Kishida also said on Friday that next week’s G7 summit in Japan, which Mr Albanese is attending, would seek to strengthen sanctions against Russia, despite reported splits in member nations about how far they were willing to go.
