China keeps its powder dry for US tariff hit
Tokyo | President-elect Donald Trump is unlikely to whack hefty tariffs on Chinese goods straight after taking office in January, experts say, meaning the country’s drip feed of stimulus will continue as authorities keep their powder dry for a possible fully-fledged trade war with the US.
Investors were underwhelmed by Friday’s announcement of a 10 trillion yuan ($2.1 trillion) package to ease local government debt to free up capital for more stimulus spending on infrastructure.
