Beijing the only winner in Hong Kong’s legislative elections
Tokyo | Hong Kong’s exiled pro-democracy legislators are calling on the city’s residents to boycott parliamentary elections this Sunday as the government scrambles to avoid an embarrassingly low voter turnout that may anger Beijing.
The Legislative Council elections will be the first polls since China overhauled the former British colony’s electoral system so that only candidates who pledged their loyalty to Beijing could run for office.
