ASEAN fiddles while Myanmar burns

Singapore | Representatives of the Association of South-East Asian Nations were due to meet Myanmar’s military leaders yesterday amid growing despair in the nation, where the public health system is barely functioning and cash is hard to find.
The visit by this year’s ASEAN chairman, Brunei’s Erywan Yusof, and secretary-general Lim Jock Hoi was not how ASEAN diplomacy was supposed to play out.
