Landmark WFH ruling could ‘trap’ employers trying to do the right thing

A Westpac employee’s landmark win against returning to the office risks making employers more wary of offering temporary working from home arrangements out of fear it could be used to lock in remote work permanently, lawyers and employers say.

The warning comes as the Finance Sector Union pledged to use the Fair Work Commission ruling handed down on Monday to push employers to reconsider their refusals of WFH requests as they cite other similar cases.
