ACTU pushes four-day week at productivity roundtable

The Australian Council of Trade Unions has formally pushed for workers to have shorter hours, including a four-day work week, as a proposal for next week’s productivity roundtable, seeking to link the measure to the rise of artificial intelligence.

The union peak body on Wednesday argued workers should benefit from productivity gains and technological advances by moving towards a four-day week when appropriate, and allow sector-specific alternatives when it is not.
