NSW looks to university lecturers to fill school teacher jobs

University tutors and lecturers are among the highly skilled professionals the NSW government is hoping will jump careers after it promised to make the pathway into school teaching quicker and easier.

NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell has pitched the idea to make post-graduate teacher training qualifications more flexible to allow people with relevant skills and discipline knowledge into classrooms after as little as six months of formal training instead of the current two years.
