Mining magnate Gina Rinehart tops the 2023 Financial Review Rich Women List with an estimated $36.7 billion fortune, but faces a new competitor for the title as fellow West Australian Nicola Forrest joins for the first time in recognition of her increasing activity within Tattarang.

Mrs Forrest debuts in second place with an estimated wealth of $16.5 billion, which represents half the combined fortune she shares with husband Andrew Forrest, who founded Fortescue Metals Group and returned to run the business as executive chairman last August.
