How to make superannuation easier for your spouse when you die
Start planning now to make for a much smoother transition, writes John Wasiliev who finds answers for your questions on superannuation.
Q: My wife and I have a self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) which over the last year has become more difficult to profitably administer. As I know my wife would be incapable of running it, I was considering making a provision in my will that on my death the SMSF be wound up and rolled over into an industry fund with the obvious choice one of the top performing ones. Unfortunately, there seems to be quite a lot of criticism of the poor bureaucratic style of service being provided. This could be quite upsetting and probably necessitate someone assisting my wife on these occasions. Would appreciate your thoughts. Mike
